Gifford’s career took off in the 1970s as a vocalist on the game show Name That Tunes with Tom Kennedy. She was a regular panelist and substitute anchor on ABC’s Good Morning America in the early 1980s, as well as a correspondent and substitute anchor on E! News Live.

Gifford replaced Ann Abernathy as co-host of The Morning Show on WABC-TV with Regis Philbin on June 24, 1985. In 1988, Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee debuted as a national broadcast, and Gifford became well-known throughout the United States.

Kathie Lee married Paul Johnson in 1976. She later confessed that it was only show-biz marriage, so it lasted only six years.

After her separation from Johnson in 1983, she met sports reporter Frank Gifford. They were married from 1986 till Frank’s death in 2015.

Frank died of natural causes in their Greenwich, Connecticut, home at the age of 84.
